NC Voters Unsure About Obama’s Citizenship (and Hawaii’s statehood!)

A recent survey of North Carolina by Public Policy Polling finds that only 54% of the state’s voters say President Obama was born in the United states, with 26% saying he was not and another 20% not sure.

Among North Carolina Republicans, a 47% plurality — nearly a full majority — say Obama was not born in America. Only 24% of state Republicans say he was born here, with 29% not sure.

It gets better, with PPP asking this question: “Do you consider Hawaii to be part of the United States?” Here it’s 92% saying yes, 5% saying no, and 3% not sure. Among Republicans, 88% say Hawaii is a part of America, to 7% who say it is not, and 4% aren’t sure.

Oh what a proud day for all of us in North Carolina!  Btw, I have my doubts if the United States is even a legal country. Aren’t we still apart of England?

  1. Wow. So, so dumb. 7% of NC Republicans don’t believe that Hawaii is part of the US?! What the hell is going on? Just another example of the willful ignorance I’ve devoted my life to stomping out.

Please, Jordan, what can we do to stop the spread of stupidity?

  2. I don’t know. I just don’t know. I really just don’t know. I’m afraid I really just don’t know. I’m afraid even I really just don’t know. I have to tell you I’m afraid even I really just don’t know.
