The Tim Tebow “Focus on the Family” ad got a lot of attention when it was announced CBS would air it during the Super Bowl. Many pro-choice and women’s rights groups protested its inclusion.

The progressive site The Huffington Post uploaded a story today calling the ad “a flop” because the fewest number of people watched the ad. Only 92 million viewers, so hardly anyone. Who’s Tim Tebow again? Right.

The Nielson Group, which monitored the ratings for the Super Bowl put up on their web site the total number of viewers for each of the 73 commercials that aired during the game. Sure enough the Tebow ad is #73 with a measly 92,576,680 viewers. But it got the same number of viewers as the Snickers/Betty White ad. You know, the Betty White ad that was voted #1 in the USA Today poll. But since it tied for #73 I guess nobody saw it either, therefore nobody voted it #1 like USA Today tells us they did. Must have been some kind of problem with the vote counting.

Two problems with the Huffpo story: 1) Nobody knows when each commercial is going to run, so they can’t make a point to tune in when it airs. CBS doesn’t release a press statement telling everyone “Hey, that Tebow ad is going to run at exactly 6:43pm during the first quarter of the game. Set your alarm!” So it’s not like people voted with their clickers if the 30 sec ad met their approval.

2) The ad ran during the beginning of the game, when the fewest total number of people had their TVs tuned into it. The most watched commercial of the game was for Doritos. You know why? Is it because everyone looooves Doritos? No, because it aired at 9:30pm, during the 4th quarter when the game was at its highest drama and maximum viewership.

I used to watch Countdown on MSNBC every night, but for a while now I have found myself not enjoying the show anymore and switching it off. A few months ago I was discussing Countdown with someone and she expressed her preference for just watching “The Rachael Maddow Show.” Keith was too mean to in her opinion. While she agreed with his overall politics, she didn’t like the way he conducted himself – Too mean and too negative. I could not argue with her.

Again it appeared recently when Keith went after the newly elected Massachuettes Senator, Scott Brown:

“In short, in Scott Brown we have an irresponsible, homophobic, racist, reactionary, ex-nude model, teabagging supporter of violence against woman and against politicians with whom he disagrees. In any other time in our history, this man would have been laughed off the stage as an unqualified and a disaster in the making by the most conservative of conservatives. Instead, the commonwealth of Massachusetts is close to sending this bad joke to the Senate of the United States.”

The rant was so over-the-top that Jon Stewart spoofed Keith on The Daily Show last week, pointing out that while Keith accused Brown of supporting violence against women, he only a few months ago called conservative columnists Michelle Malkin a “mashed up bag of meat with lip stick on it.”

But that’s not the end. January 2010 has not been kind to the Countdown program, its ratings are down 44% from a year ago. The website DailyFinance pointed out the low ratings and ran a story “Is America Getting Over Keith Olbermann?“ Keith did not like this story and attacked DailyFinance as a right-wing web site. The author of the article replied on his site about Keith’s attack:

Keith, I don’t know what went into your decision to lie about us on your program. I don’t know whether you’ve ever actually read anything on DailyFinance, or whether one of your producers just prepped a script for you and you performed it. But stuff like this is why people like Jon Stewart and me increasingly have questions about your intellectual honesty and integrity. Knock it off already.

My father has an old army buddy who sends him emails from time to time with such forwarded treasures as written prayers to God, old “knock-knock” jokes or a picture of a topless women on a motorcycle with a beer can wedge between her breasts.

The most recent email is about how Barack Obama is a secret Muslim, blah, blah blah. This time our source is “a very good and reliable friend” and his conversation with two Arabs at “Blockbusters video.” Apparently there is a hidden reason why Michelle Obama does not travel with her husband everywhere he goes. See for yourself:

Michelle Obama’s Travels

THINK ABOUT THIS!!! Makes sense to me….

This is quite interesting…….Just add two and two……

Shep Smith, Fox News. If you check Obama’s last trip over seas. His wife left just after their visit to France as stated below. She has yet to accompany him to any Arab country. Think about it. This was sent to me from a very good and reliable friend. The pieces of the puzzle just keep on coming together! Interesting…

Travel for Obama

I was at a Blockbusters renting videos, and as I was going along the wall, there was a video called “Obama”.. There were two men next to me. We talked about Obama. These guys were Arabs and I asked them why they thought Michele Obama headed home following her visit in France instead of traveling on to Saudi Arabia and Turkey with her husband.

They told me she couldn’t go to Saudi Arabia , Turkey or Iraq.

I said “Laura Bush went to Saudi Arabia , Turkey and Dubai.”

They said that Obama is a Muslim, and by Muslim law he would not be allowed to bring his wife into countries that accept Sharia Law.

I just thought it was interesting that two Arabs at Blockbusters accept the idea that we’re being led by a Muslim who follows the Islamic creed.

They also said that’s the reason he bowed to the King of Saudi Arabia. It was a signal to the Muslim world.

Just thought you would like to know.

***************************************************

When I received this it made sense to me, but there were also a couple blank spots. Thus, I sent it to a friend who is a Middle Eastern Scholar and expert, Dr. Jim Murk. Here is his explanation that states a little clearer what the Arabs at Blockbuster were saying.
Bear,

“An orthodox Muslim man would never take his wife on a politically oriented trip to any nation which practices shari’ah law, which includes Saudi Arabia ,. This is true and it is why Obama left Michelle in Europe or at home when he went to especially Arab countries. He knows Muslim protocol; this included his bowing to the Saudi king. Obama is regarded as a Muslim in these countries simply because he was born to a Muslim father. Note that he has downplayed his Christianity–even spoke of his Muslim faith with George Stephanopoulus –by not publicly joining a Christian church in D.C., but simply attending the chapel or services at Camp David .

He also played down the fact that the USA was a Christian country and said, unbelievably, that it was one of the largest Muslim nations in the world, which is nonsense. He has also publicly taken the part of the Palestinians in the conflict with Israel Finally he ignored the National Day of Prayer. He is bad newsl He is God’s judgment on America .” Jim Murk

Bear: Thus once again ACTIONS speak louder than words. Check out Obama’s. Do they appear treasonous to you or is it just millions of us who think so? God help us!

A recent survey of North Carolina by Public Policy Polling finds that only 54% of the state’s voters say President Obama was born in the United states, with 26% saying he was not and another 20% not sure.

Among North Carolina Republicans, a 47% plurality — nearly a full majority — say Obama was not born in America. Only 24% of state Republicans say he was born here, with 29% not sure.

It gets better, with PPP asking this question: “Do you consider Hawaii to be part of the United States?” Here it’s 92% saying yes, 5% saying no, and 3% not sure. Among Republicans, 88% say Hawaii is a part of America, to 7% who say it is not, and 4% aren’t sure.

Oh what a proud day for all of us in North Carolina! Btw, I have my doubts if the United States is even a legal country. Aren’t we still apart of England?
